They say there is life after 40, well this very seasoned cast prove there lots of life to live way into your golden years.
Tom Wilkinson, Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton and Ronald Pickup star as a bunch of seniors who find that their life has passed them by and they want just one last adventure. So they sign up to stay in a off-the-beaten-path hotel in India run by a rather rambunctious owner (Dev Patel). There they fall in love, go on grand adventures, sample the native cuisine and try once more to find happiness.
This movie is very quaint and very British. I really enjoyed seeing this ensemble having fun. The clash of cultures and the awakening of new experiences was really interesting and often funny.
My only complaint about the film was the length. I felt it overstayed it’s welcome. I think was due to there being just so many characters. Did we need anymore than the core five characters? Not really and I am sure the novel probably explained that better.
