The Farrelly Brothers responsible for “There’s Something About Mary” bring us a movie about life growing up in Rhode Island.
The movie follows an inane druggie teen (Shawn Hatosy) who finally hits rock bottom with his verbally abusive father (Alec Baldwin) who once in a while spits out his own retarded life lessons.
After a drug related mishap the kid is forced to attend an upstate prep school where he must reform or be sent to jail.
I am not quite sure how to say this other than bluntly. In almost every scene of this film there is extensive drug use and I don’t find that funny or intelligent.
A father who calls his son “dildo” and a kid trying to play a bong like a french horn isn’t either.
I have to hand it to the Farrelly’s they heard the cash register ching when they got this sold.
I was insulted and appalled at Hollywood’s lack of respect for the decay of today’s teens. Teen drug use is not something we should laugh at. So don’t waste your lives with this one.
